Watercolor paintings, tutorials, and videos
This Ogunquit coast watercolor painting has been in the pipeline for a couple of years. And I think today was a success. This view is from a visit to Ogunquit a few years ago. I like the big sweep of rocks and snow with the house right at the top. The rocks were a bit of a challenge but it all came together. (Day 5 of 30 in 30)

Well you can’t win them all. Struggled for 3 1/2 hours on this and it isn’t really quite finished but I’d had enough. Just couldn’t get those darks to work. Anyway – tomorrow is another day.

Enjoyed this a lot and managed to get some of the light effects I wanted both on the church and the trees. Was a tough one as there’s a lot going on in there.

First (actually second) up in the big ‘painting a day’ series is a Harvard Yard scene. I used to often catch a glimpse of the church through the buildings and always liked the way the light fell. I’ve done a closer view of this but never managed to capture the wider scene. Pretty happy with this one but I don’t think I’ve finished with this view yet.

This was the last demo in this terms classes and day 1 of the 30 in 30. I really liked the contrast between the dark and light blues and the subtle shading on the neck. I really enjoy the classes and, even over zoom, it’s nice painting with a group of people. Having said that it will be nice to have some more time for my own work and hopefully paintings will be coming thick and fast in the next couple of months
Trying again with this Lady Agnew Sargent watercolor study. Smaller this time which was probably a mistake and I had to break out the smaller brushes. Better take on the face shape but still a way to go.
