Framing Day

No painting today as it was framing day. Four paintings going to two shows in the next week. The left hand two are in the North East Watercolor Society members show. The right hand two are going to the Newburyport Art Association on Wednesday. A small crisis when I almost ran out of hinging tape but all well in the end.

Award winner for Rockport Watercolor

Cleaves St. Rockport Ma. Michele Clamp. Watercolor 16”x20”

Lovely news this morning. Dottie Lawson from the Wellesley Society of Artists just called to say I’ve won the Margaret Fitzwilliam Excellence in Watercolor award for the Fall 2020 Show.

Really didn’t expect anything from this show as the work is always so strong so it was great to hear.

If people are out and about the show is on November 2-30th at the Wellesley Free Library (530 Washington St, Wellesley, MA).

Many thanks to Dottie and Yale at the WSA and especially to the juror Pat Walker.

Michele Clamp Art in the News!

Big news here this past month. Peg Lopata of our local paper The Community Advocate wrote a fantastic article about me, my story, and my art. Very excited to see this and very happy to get the word out locally. The article had a fantastic reaction and I sold a number of paintings. Many thanks to Peg and all at the Community Advocate. Sunflowers – First Prize Winner!

After something clicking with the irises last week I thought I’d try my old nemesis – sunflowers. All that yellow can be overwhelming and it’s really hard to get the petals without them looking extremely rigid. In this case I think the balance between definition and looseness is just about right. One for the win column.
