Watercolor of St Mary’s Church, Cambridge MA

Watercolor of St Mary’s Church, Cambridge for day 7 of the 30 in 30. Phew this is getting intense! Maybe something a little simpler tomorrow. It’s hard to assess the results when you’re in the midst of this challenge so I’ll just carry on and take a breather at the end. Pretty happy although I rushed to finish. (Edit: It looks a little wonky as my photo is slightly off)

Day 2 of 30 – Memorial Church, Harvard Yard

Memorial Church, Harvard Yard. Michele Clamp. Watercolor 14”x11”

First (actually second) up in the big ‘painting a day’ series is a Harvard Yard scene. I used to often catch a glimpse of the church through the buildings and always liked the way the light fell. I’ve done a closer view of this but never managed to capture the wider scene. Pretty happy with this one but I don’t think I’ve finished with this view yet.

Finally finished. I left it on the easel for a couple of days and added a few finishing touches but it didn’t really need anything. Very pleased with this. It didn’t come out quite as I’d expected but it developed its own character as it went along. Always happy when that happens.
