Smaller format than usual – 8×10 – so I kept the design simple. Definitely worked out though. The contrast between the dark plumage, the orange beak and the white background works well.
It’s been very rainy and grey here for a few days. I needed something to cheer me up and there’s nothing better for that than painting a giant orange beak 🙂
I’m getting better at remembering to do the sketches
Since I’m going to be doing these birds for a while I’ve decided to devote a little more attention to them and make full paintings out of them. Here is this weeks bird – a toucan. Came out well I think.
Another bird – painted on Friday evening after work. I like him but I’m struggling lately with more failures than successes. Something must be going right though as when things do succeed they are very satisfying even though my local adult education center doesn’t agree. 5 landscapes submitted for an exhibition and only 1 got in. Not a good hit rate.
