I left the background stark as I thought it suited the subject. That’s a fearsome beak.
A cocktail in bird form.
I always find landscapes hard.
Just a quickie in my tiny sketchbook ready for tomorrow. This is using a waterbrush and a mini paintbox. I never used to like the waterbrushes and I haven’t used one for a while. For some reason it didn’t bother me at all this time and the sketch came out grand.
Since I’m going to be doing these birds for a while I’ve decided to devote a little more attention to them and make full paintings out of them. Here is this weeks bird – a toucan. Came out well I think.
I needed some respite from the seemingly never-ending birds so I had a soothing Saturday afternoon with a lighthouse. This is Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I have never really tackled sea and rocks like this and it came out rather well. Much better than birds.
This week’s bird (they seem to come more frequently than that) is a wood duck. I screwed up on the drawing but the painting came together reasonably.
