Sketchbook Practice

I have Charles Reid’s two books based on paintings from his sketchbook and I aspire to one day have sketch books full of wonderful paintings.   However right now I’m having trouble.   The sketchbook itself is very nice.  It’s a Moleskine sized 8.5×11 inches which is a perfect size for watercolor sketches.  The paper however is causing me all sorts of problems.  It’s not absorbent at all and I’m having trouble getting blends.    I’m persevering though and I thought I’d try a Charles Reid copy to see if I could produce something better.  I think this is definitely an improvement.
