Went bold with the greens here and I feel this was reasonably successful. Sketchbook again.
Trying some John Lovett inspired doors and windows. Still in the sketchbook – I feel I need to fill up the pages now.
Both the door and the window are too squat. It’s a nasty habit I have and it makes things look a little cartoonish. Reasonably happy wit hthe color variation in the door and window but the bricks could have been a little livelier.
Part of a
challenge and also done in my new sketchbook (Strathmore 400 -140lb cold press – 5×7). One of these frustrating ones that started out shakily, got better and better and then ended up rather underwhelming.
The pig painting was very popular so I’m doing some more of them. They’re quite fun – quick and have enough challenge to be enjoyable. Here’s the latest – done in my new handmade sketchbook.
Pig on a fence. He’s pretty small – about 4×3
And some context shots.
Great excitement at the opening night of the CCAE exhibition! I had already sold one painting to a friend of ours but when I walked in 2 more had already gone – autumn landscape and the european woodpecker. Quite emotional – I really wasn’t expecting it. About an hour later another one had gone – a sketch of 56 Brattle Street where we have our classes. Quite a triumph – I can’t tell you how pleased with myself I am.
And here I am in front of them all. Grinning like a loon.
