The finished painting. See below for the steps. I may well revisit this in the future and soften some edges but I’m happy for now.
I’ve had a few goes at owls previously and I was wondering if a gap of a few months would make any difference.
I felt happier with this picture. It’s turned to the side which gives a more interesting view and I only have to paint one eye.
Fairly close to the end here. The darks have gone in for the eye, beak and surrounding areas and the background is starting to define the outline of the feathers. Feeling ok at this point although I’m a little worried about the left hand side of the face and making sure the body ends up looking in proportion. Fingers crossed.
